Despite having a wonderful 2016/17 season where he was pivotal to Chelsea winning the Champions League and a good start to the league this season, Eden Hazard could only end up in 19th spot in the Ballon d’Or awards ranking.

Chelsea fans have reacted negatively to Hazard’s position and Antonio Conte also expressed his shock in his press conference today.

He said: “I’m surprised. I’m repeating always the same concept: if you want to win the Ballon d’Or, you have to win the league, the Champions League, the World Cup. You have to win the Euro Cup.

“It’s important to have great wins. For sure Eden is a young player. He has the potential to improve his place in this table. At the same time I like to repeat that if you want to reach the best you have to win. Last season we won the league. Maybe two years ago, Hazard wasn’t in the table.

“A top player must have this ambition. It’s normal. Otherwise you stay with the others in the middle.

“He has real potential to become one of the best. But he has to win.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
