That moment when Sam Vokes scored his second and Burnley’s third goal against Chelsea at Stamford bridge on the opening day of the season to give the Clarets a commanding 3-0 halftime lead was heart aching for Chelsea fans. More hurts were still to come as Crystal Palace’s Wilfred Zaha, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, West Ham United’s Marko Arnautovic, Roma Edin Dzeko have all mesmerised Chelsea this season. Antonio Conte’s blue army are facing a hard battle on all fronts this season and certainly no team wants to be a pushover.
Chelsea’s season so far have had two sides to it – the highs and the lows. From beating to the likes of Spurs, Atletico Madrid and Manchester United to losing out to clubs like Crystal Palace, West Ham and Roma. Such losses have dampened the spirit of the fans. Finding consistency will go a long way in helping us achieve our season objectives.
Obviously we were undone by the manner of our transfer business, but that excuse doesn’t hold any longer because most of our defeats this season have come against teams we were better than by all standards. Conte must once again apply his magic wand to endure consistency is brought back into our play to ensure we just don’t end the season as mere contenders rather than as winners.
Let’s hope for the best. Cheers!
