Chelsea have been drawn to face Barcelona in the Champions League second round after the Blues failed to qualify as top of the group, falling behind Roma.
Barcelona are in fine form this season and remain unbeaten in all competitions thus far, as they lead the Spanish league and were in terrifying form against Chelsea.
Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is also in fine form this season and has already hit 18 goals this term, including three in the Champions League.
However, Chelsea can draw confidence from the fact that the Argentine has never scored against the Blues even when given a penalty.
In fact, Messi has a worse record against Chelsea than any other team he has ever played against as he has failed to score against Chelsea in the eight games he has played.
The 30-year-old has had 29 shots on goal against the club without scoring and he had once revealed his hate for Chelsea in the past.
Back in 2006, ahead of a clash against Chelsea, he said to the News of the World: “There are players here who hate Chelsea more than Real Madrid.
“I never thought I would hear myself say that.
“I also never thought I would see something worse than the Boca and River Plate rivalry or Brazil v Argentina – but this is.
“We would rather play Arsenal, Manchester United or anyone else than be on the pitch with Chelsea.”
When European football resumes in February, Messi will be up against the team he hates to play against, and Chelsea can do anything against Barcelona.
