Eden Hazard has been in amazing form this season and was yet again in scintillating form for Chelsea in the 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid.
Michael Owen was in awe of the Belgian’s ability last night and the former Liverpool striker admitted Hazard is hard to defend against when he decides to stands you up because there’s little chance of stopping him.
“You wouldn’t really associate Hazard with raw speed,” Owen told BT Sport.
“He’s not someone who is going to run away from someone in a race.
“But once he stands you up, you’ve literally got no chance.
“He’s in top gear within three strides and everyone else takes six or seven. You’re dead if he stands you up.”
Before last night’s clash, Owen suggested Hazard has some unique attributes.
“He’s brilliant, he’s just got attributes that very few players have got,” the ex-Liverpool striker said.
“He’s so short, with a low-centre of gravity. He can just stop a player and just a turn of pace gets him past them.
“He can go from no speed to full speed within a couple of strides. He’s got such a good touch, he’s got so much going for him.
“He’s a brilliant, brilliant player. He can use both feet, he makes runs.”
