Chelsea had the better stats against West Ham, but at the end of the game, stats don’t win matches.
Chelsea had 70 percent possession and amassed a total of 19 shots and only two were on target, much to Conte’s frustration. While West Ham only had five total shots, but were still able to find the net through a 6th minute Marko Arnautovic goal that settled the fixture.
Conte was unhappy with his team’s inability to find the back of the net and the Chelsea boss said after the game: “Today our ideas were not so clear and I think above all in the last pass, the final pass we made a lot of mistakes.
“We created chances to score but we didn’t take them. When you shoot for 19 times in a game it means you attack, but we can do better.”
