Paul Pogba is currently the highest paid player in the Premier League since making his record move from Juventus to Manchester United.
Hazard’s current deal with Chelsea does not expire until 2020, and the Belgian who turns 27 next month, has been attracting interest from both Spanish giants Real Madrid and former boss Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.
However, Chelsea want to break the bank for Hazard and will offer him the opportunity to become the highest paid player in the history of the Premier League as they prepare to restart contract talks, according to reports.
Fears were heightened about Hazard’s future this week that he might leave Stamford Bridge after his father, Thierry, told Belgian newspaper Le Soir that he had rejected fresh terms at Chelsea and was awaiting an approach from Real Madrid.
However, according to The Telegraph, no formal offer was ever made – though negotiations have taken place – and the club intend to ramp up talks in the New Year and have no plans of letting Hazard go.
