According to reports in Italy, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is still interested in Italy international defender Leonardo Bonucci.
Tuttosport claim Conte wants the AC Milan defender to join Chelsea if David Luiz, who has fallen down the pecking order in recent weeks, leaves Chelsea. Conte reportedly sees Bonucci as a ready-made replacement for Luiz.
Conte might have to look elsewhere as AC Milan aren’t willing to sell Bonucci, who is also their captain.
AC Milan reacted to the rumours of Bonucci leaving to join Chelsea by releasing the statement: “Our match against Atalanta is fast approaching, a clash that all of Milan care deeply about.
“This is very important for the team and their captain, who continues to be the subject of dark forces, when in reality there aren’t any.
“Instead, contact between two leading lights is normal: when there’s esteem and affection, they’re things that exist in the world of football.”
