Chelsea boss Antonio Conte opted to substitute Eden Hazard moments after scoring his second goal in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Newcastle United on Saturday.
Hazard revealed after the game that he was happy despite missing out on chance to score a hat-trick because he is more focused on the team’s achievements than personal glory.
When asked what he thought about being substituted despite having a chance to score a hat-trick, Hazard said: “No it’s not a problem for me, it’s a problem for Cesc [Fabregas], because he could have make one assist.
“But at least we won the game, that’s the most important thing.
When asked if he was disappointed to be substituted, Hazard added: “No, all the players want to play.
“We play on Tuesday I think, so rest is sometimes good.
“But of course when you score two, you want to score a hat trick but the other boys score, no problem.”
