Losing to AS Roma weeks ago almost ensured we missed out on top place in our Champions League group but Atletico Madrid winning Roma in Matchday 5 and Chelsea winning Qarabag convincingly away from home means our destiny is now in our hands.
Ahead of our final group game against Atletico Madrid later today, Chelsea must win Atletico to ensure we win our group irrespective of the outcome in the game between Roma and Qarabag.
We must avoid every form of complacency to achieve this because Atletico still have everything to play for. If Atletico win Chelsea, and Roma lose, Atletico will qualify ahead of Roma. So Atletico will be coming to Stamford Bridge to win.
After beating Atletico away from home in Matchday 2, it would be nice to do the double over the Spaniards by winning them again at Stamford Bridge. With Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas, Alvaro Morata and co in form, we should be able to win Atletico at Stamford Bridge.
As long as we don’t show fear and allow them to take charge, we will be fine.
