At the Olympic Stadium in today’s lunchtime game, Chelsea suffered a 1-0 defeat to West Ham United.
Here are 3 talking pints from the game:
CHELSEA FAIL TO SEIZE CHANCE:
Who would have predicted that West Ham United would beat Chelsea except you’re a die-hard Hammers fan. Another London derby defeat leaves Conte with much to ponder on. This match presented an opportunity to make up on lost grounds to the Manchester clubs, but Chelsea threw it out of the window. Few weeks ago, Conte urged his players to catch up first with United, then City next, but with this defeat they need to look at teams behind them than the ones in front of them.
CHELSEA TITLE HOPE AND DEFENCE FADE AWAY:
The stinging effect of this defeat is that it derails our title hope and defence. The need to avoid complacency had been a red light warning prior to the game which wasn’t adhered to. Our chances of winning and retaining our league title is now a far distance like Australia.
CHELSEA: SINGLE & COSTLY DEFENSIVE ERROR AND BLUNT ATTACKING PLAY:
Chelsea’s afternoon at the Olympic Stadium was characterised by a single and costly defensive error which led to the West Ham goal. How on earth did three Hammers players get on a neat attacking play against eight players in the Chelsea attacking zone. More so, lack of creativity led to limited chances that would have put the game in our favour. But it was not to be and that’s why we lost the game and all three points.
Still a true blue…cheers!
