Chelsea boss Antonio Conte rested Eden Hazard and Cesar Azpilicueta against Swansea City on Wednesday night and he has revealed he will make more changes against Newcastle United as he prepares for a congested festive fixture schedule.

“In this busy period it’s very important to have rotation and give rest to all players,” said Conte.

“It was positive against Swansea because we won the game, a good answer from all my players.

“But when you play for four competitions in one season, it’s normal to have this type of rotation and it’s right for every player to accept my decision.

“I try to make the best decisions, not to lose our balance to be effective and try to win every game despite the rotations.

“I trust my players, I believe in them and want to give them the chance to show they deserve to play.”
