Chelsea are out of the Carabao Cup after a 2-1 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates despite Eden Hazard’s early goal.
Reacting to Arsenal’s win over Chelsea, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger revealed he started with a back four against Chelsea because he wanted to win.
“We know each other well, there had been many draws. I wanted to win, to score goals,” Wenger told reporters after the game.
“It’s a great satisfying night for us. We managed to beat a strong team.
“In January we paid a heavy price for uncertainty in the dressing room – now we are back.”
Wenger also believes Arsenal controlled the game better in the second half.
“I felt that in the first half there were tactical reasons for not expressing the quality of our game, we rectified that at half time,” Wenger added.
“In the second half we won the ball high up and controlled the game.”
