Chelsea have today completed the signing of Ross Barkley after his £15m move from Everton.
Barkley’s former teammate at Everton Leon Osman reckons the 24-year-old must now prove his fitness and quality at Stamford Bridge following six months on the sidelines.
“I think for Ross at the moment he’s got to get fit,” Osman said on talkSPORT.
“He’s got to make sure he’s fit and maybe teams will want him to prove he’s fit.
“He’s had a long time out, he’s had two pretty serious injuries this season and it isn’t the first time it’s happened in his career.
“He broke his leg when he was a young lad at 17, so he’ll know how to get through this and get past this. I wouldn’t expect it to really hurt him mentality.
“But he’s had a long time out and you don’t get back to your best overnight.
“He needs to get back playing and he needs to show everyone he is still the player he was.”
