Chelsea have failed to find the net in three consecutive games, and summer signing Alvaro Morata has come under pressure since his bad display that saw Chelsea play a 2-2 draw against Arsenal.
Morata hasn’t scored this year and couldn’t yet find the back of the net against Leicester City today.
However, Antonio Conte has come to the defence of his striker and believes the problem doesn’t lie with Morata alone.
He told the media after the game: “I think the problem is for the team, not only for Morata. Compared to last season we are conceding less and showing more solidity, but we haven’t had great quality in our finishing. A lot of time defenders have had chances to score but didn’t take them.
“We have to try to improve in this aspect, but the problem is not just for Morata, or Batshuayiwhen he plays. We have to improve our quality in the last step.”
