Chelsea record signing Alvaaro Morata has come under fire since his outing against arsenal on Wednesday where he missed a hatrick of chances.
Antonio Conte has come to the defence of the summer signing, pointing out that in his debut season for Chelsea he has already scored 12 goals and assisted a further 7.
“The stats are that Morata has scored 12 goals this season and made seven assists until now, Conte said. “The stats are good for the player. Don’t forget Morata is young, only 25, it’s the first season he is playing with regularity, I’m very happy and the club is very happy with the commitment of this player. He is a young striker who can become one of the best in the world, I don’t see any problems with Alvaro.
“It was a pity because if Alvaro scored for sure we win the game against Arsenal but at the same time that’s his job, and for a striker there are many opportunities to score or make a mistake.
“In the last two games he was unlucky but I was very happy with his work for the team and his commitment. He has to continue in this way and the situation will soon change.”
