Ahead of Chelsea’s FA Cup third-round replay with Norwich on Wednesday, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has revealed Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu will play.
“A young player has to deserve this chance, not only because he is a young player or not only because he is a player from our Academy,” Conte said.
“I want to be very clear and for this reason, Ethan Ampadu showed he deserved this chance and probably he will play tomorrow. And players must show me that when I gave this opportunity, I did not make a mistake.”
Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi was on the bench for the first game against Norwich but Conte doesn’t think he is ready to play for the first team.
“We are talking about a player with good potential and I think he needs another step before having this opportunity to play a game with us,” Conte added.
“But for sure he is a very interesting player for us and we have to continue to work with him to try to improve him, and have another step to be ready to face this type of game.”
