Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was spotted having a conversation with Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez in the tunnel at Stamford Bridge during Chelsea’s midweek Carabao Cup clash with Arsenal.
Sanchez has been the subject of huge transfer speculation this January and many had suggested Conte might have discussed a potential move with Sanchez.
When asked what he said to Sanchez on Wednesday, Conte said: “I said hello. He is a great player, he knows very well that in Juventus I tried to buy him from Udinese but he went to Barcelona.
“He knows very well my admiration for him. So it was a good chance to say hello to him.
“No other situation or conversation. I repeat for sure I have great admiration for players and he is one of them. I stop.”
When asked if he knew where Sanchez would be heading in January, Conte added: “I don’t know.
“You will have to ask him which is his choice, or ask Arsenal.
“They have to decide his future before June. His future will be in a great club.”
