After Antonio Conte’s falling out with Diego Costa, Chelsea opted to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid as a replacement for the former Chelsea striker who’s currently at Atletico Madrid.
Morata has had a good start to life at Chelsea having scored 12 goals and assisted seven already.
However, he has faced strong criticisms since the games against Stoke and Arsenal.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was asked if Morata is a good replacement for Costa, and the Chelsea boss chose to defend the 25-year-old.
Conte responded: “The stats are he’s scored 12 this season and made seven assists. The stats are good for this player. He’s only 25 years-old and it’s the first season he’s playing with regularity.
“I’m happy and the club as well with the commitment of this player. Like Barkley, he has a lot of space for improvement. He’s a young striker who can become one of the best in the world. I don’t see problems.”
