Antonio Conte is in his second season as the manager of Chelsea, and the January transfer window is his fourth transfer window as the manager of the club.
The Italian has always revealed his dissatisfaction with Chelsea’s transfer policies and his inability to recruit the kind of players he needs for his job.
Conte has seen a lot of his top targets slip out of his radar, and Chelsea have had a number of below par outing in the transfer market, much to the frustrations of the Chelsea boss.
Speaking to Sky Italia after his team’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal, as translated by Football Italia, Conte said: “I do not aim high with my requests, especially as in my history I’ve rarely been given the players I asked for.”
“I always ended up at clubs who were running an austerity programme,” he said. “I just try to do my work. If someone arrives, good, if they don’t, then that’s fine too. I have to continue my work, either way.”
