Alvaro Morata has been the name on everyone’s lips since the 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Wednesday. And unfortunately, it hasn’t been positive comments.
The Spaniard missed three big opportunities when left one on one with Petr Cech, but he was unable to score any, which caused Chelsea a chance to gain the three points at the Emirates Stadium.
Former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley who is currently a pundit with ESPN FC said that Chelsea paid huge money for Morata so he can deliver in games like these.
“I think there’s quality there,” Burley said on ESPN FC.
“I think there’s a shortage of confidence and listen, it’s big boys time for him.
“We talked about that at the beginning of the season. He’s not the Morata that might come off the bench or play 20 games a season when fit.
“He’s the guy that has to lead the line in the Premier League, whether we think the Premier League is the best league or most precious league or whatever.
“He is paid to lead the line in this league which is worth billions of dollars to these teams and he’ll need to lead the line against Barcelona.
“Nobody can find the confidence apart from Alvaro Morata.
“He has got the quality, but unless he does it in England and in Europe for Chelsea, they’ll have to get him out.”
