Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has revealed he is perplexed at some of the names being linked with a move to Chelsea.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte reportedly wants a target man with Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch, Ashley Barnes and Edin Dzeko all linked with moves to Chelsea.
“It seems a little bit random that Chelsea seem hell-bent on getting anybody that’s over 6’3” that’s potentially a target man,” Neville said on his podcast.
“There is no doubt, [Graziano] Pelle was a big favourite of Conte’s with Italy.
“So Conte does like a target man, somebody who is up there with a presence but you would think, are they that desperate to have somebody for these last three months?
“I don’t see that personally. I think Chelsea are having a good season. People will say they haven’t reached the heights of last season but my point will be that post-winning a title for Chelsea managers is not easy and Conte is doing very well this season to keep the team and the momentum going.
“I know Conte does like a target man but I’m not sure why they’re so desperate.”
