Chelsea played a 2-2 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night, and one of the talking points from the game was Alvaro Morata’s missed chances when placed in front of Petr Cech on three occasions.
Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has admitted he was shocked with Morata’s lack of ruthlessness in front of goal and has urged the Spaniard to work on his finishing.
Speaking to talkSPORT’s Sport Breakfast earlier today, the legendary Blues striker said: “It’s very difficult to be too hard on him because his work rate is really good.
“Even yesterday, he really is a player who works for the team.
“But, to be honest, yesterday I was a little bit disappointed.
“Morata, in my opinion, has the quality to be a really top, top player, but when you see him miss those goals, especially the one in the first half, you expect him to be a little bit cooler in front of the goalkeeper.
“He needs to be a bit more ruthless.
“He’s a player of amazing qualities, but one of the things I had some doubts about when he came to Chelsea was whether he was tough and ruthless enough.”
