Chelsea topsy-curvy season continued with another disappointing 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Bournemouth.
Here are 3 match talking points:
THINGS FALL APART FOR CHELSEA:
How best can Chelsea’s performance against Bournemouth be best described? The utter shock of the viewing fans was evident as their side conceded three unreplied goals to end the evening in shame. To cap a miserable evening was to see former academy graduate, Nathan Ake score against us on his return to the Bridge. The team’s capitulation is a major worry as the final months of the season roll in.
INJURY ISSUES CONTINUE:
With several key players out, the last thing Conte and Chelsea needed was another injury issue. But fate wasn’t kind enough as this time Andreas Christensen is the latest injury casualty. The young defender suffered a hamstring injury and this is a major concern. With Luiz also on the treatment table with an injury too, Conte’s options are limited in the sweeper role. Bad news for Conte and Chelsea.
CHELSEA LACK MOTIVATION:
Chelsea are a club famed for being able to overcome adversity, but last night the team looked less motivated to get back into the game. The mental fortitude required to play at the highest level seems to be bereft the players. Could it be that questions over Conte’s future at the club could he affecting the team? Or are there underlying issues between the manager and his players that’s affecting the team performance? Or is it time for Conte and his coaching team to work out another tactical plan that can galvanise the team? Things needed to be sorted out fast before crisis sets in.
Let’s hope for the best. Cheers!
