Chelsea made Alvaro Morata the club’s record signing during the summer, as his transfer fee beat the £50 million fee Chelsea paid Liverpool for Fernando Torres back in 2011.

Morata started the season in great fashion and even scored on his debut, but his form dropped considerably before his back injury that has kept him out of action since the FA Cup replay game against Norwich.

The Spain international hinted a return to Madrid is not out of the question when speaking to Spanish TV in a recent interview.

Morata was asked if he would have to think twice about returning to Real were the club to call him today and ask him to come back.

He told Espacio Reservado: “I have to respect Chelsea who have made a great effort for me. And I’m very happy here. But Madrid is always Madrid.”
