Eden Hazard’s love for Chelsea has never really been in question. Even at times when it seemed to be, he was always quick to clear the air, and reaffirm his commitment towards the Chelsea cause. A close reminder was the 2014/15 season when he was on the verge of joining either Real Madrid or PSG, but instead, chose to remain at London. He’s a true Blue, but the question of how long he will really remain a Chelsea player may never stop coming up with his ever dazzling displays, and super-rich and successful sides like Barcelona, Madrid and PSG courting him. These clubs have made no secret of their admiration for Hazard, so it’s only a matter of time before they make a formal offer.

The Belgium international signed an extension a few years ago, but that is inconsequential, as in football, even the biggest contracts can be bought out. If the mega- rich clubs really want Hazard, they may get him, especially if he has little or no reason to remain at Stamford Bridge, placing in mind that he has just a little over two years left on his contract.

Big players want to win season in and out; they want to smell and experience success. And there is also a desire to play alongside top players, and Chelsea’s signings of late have been questionable. Chelsea’s current situation doesn’t exactly show that in any way, and that I fear may be the only motivation Hazard needs to make his decision. Even Manchester City and United have been rumoured to be interested in his services too.

It’s very clear negotiations are currently ongoing to get him to sign an extension.  However, it will be difficult because we lack promise as it is. Even the Champions League looks bleak because of our current struggles. If we’re knocked out, and we finish this season trophy-less, we may suffer for it in the near future.

King Jay is a writer/broadcaster with years of experience under his belt. His love affair with Chelsea actually began as a joke, but today, he stands tall as a die-hard blue. What makes him perfect for this blog? He lives for Chelsea FC, in fact, I heard he sat in the middle of a road, and refused to go home after that bitter loss to Barcelona in 2009. Haha.
