Nemanja Matic was a key part heart of Chelsea’s side which stormed to the Premier League title last season in Antonio Conte’s debut season in England. However, the 29-year-old was allowed to join Manchester United in a £40million deal ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
As Manchester United and Chelsea face off on Sunday, Conte has admitted regrets over the sale of the Serbian and wished him well for the future.
Asked about facing Matic, Conte responded: “About this player I can talk only really well because he played with us last season.
“I think he was one of the key players in winning the title. Now Matic, unfortunately, is playing for Manchester United. I wish for him the best. Not on Sunday, but in the future.”
Tiemoue Bakayako was signed to replace the Serbian, but the £40million signing is yet to find his feet at the club.
