Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has challenged the Chelsea board to issue a vote of confidence in him amid reports Chelsea want a change of manager at the end of the season.
Conte wants Abramovich to publicly show him support, something Chelsea have done just once since Abramovich bought the club.
The only time Chelsea under Abramovich have issued a vote of confidence on a manager was in October 2015 when the board issued a vote of confidence on then Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho but then sacked him two months later.
“I must be honest, when there are these types of rumours since the first game of the season against Burnley… maybe I’d like the club to prepare a statement for me to say they trust me in my work and my job,” Conte said.
“At the same time, I know this has never happened in the past, so why should I hope for something different? So it’s a big challenge to change the approach now. But, for sure, I’d be glad.”
