It hasn’t exactly been the kind of season any Chelsea fan would have looked forward to. A lot of us hoped to retain the title, no matter how serious the competition, and others expected a very close fight for it, and although neither has happened thus far, I think that our under-fire manager Antonio Conte deserves to be appreciated for the way he has managed things at the club, especially our players.

We have had managers at Chelsea, but not many of them are gifted in man management. Conte is, and it shows in his selections; and the peace in his squad.

We have lost a few players since his arrival, but none has come out to speak against him.

Conte has somehow been able to give every senior player some time to prove himself, and it’s not surprising that we haven’t heard any stories of a player seeking to go away for more playing time.

Under Mourinho’s reign, we lost a lot of players, especially talented ones because he couldn’t keep them all happy. Conte has done the exact opposite; keeping players like Willian and Pedro happy while giving Hazard all the minutes on the pitch.

It is very commendable, and I think he deserves to be appreciated for that amid all the ‘unhappiness’ and disappointment of the current campaign. It shows that he is a builder, and the kind of manager a club should build around. If Chelsea do keep Conte around, I don’t see us looking back and wishing we hadn’t made the decision years from now.

King Jay is a writer/broadcaster with years of experience under his belt. His love affair with Chelsea actually began as a joke, but today, he stands tall as a die-hard blue. What makes him perfect for this blog? He lives for Chelsea FC, in fact, I heard he sat in the middle of a road, and refused to go home after that bitter loss to Barcelona in 2009. Haha.
