A brace from Willian, and goals from Pedro and Olivier Giroud gave Chelsea a 4-0 first-half lead against Hull City in the FA Cup fifth round tie at Stamford Bridge.
Hull City boss Nigel Adkins admitted he had to make some tactical changes at half-time to avoid the embarrassment of conceding more in the second period.
He said: I was calm at half-time. We tweaked a few things. The second half was what we wanted to do in the first half. We could have gone under and tried to create chances.
Speaking about his team’s performance, he said: “We have come with a gameplan and two minutes in it has gone out of the window. They have some wonderful players. Credit to the players in the second half. They stuck with it, we had chances.
“The disappointment was the first half, we stood off them and allowed the talented players to do what they could do.”
