Chelsea and Manchester United were both interested in former Everton striker Romelu Lukaku during the summer, but United ended up paying over the odds for the Belgian.
There was a fear then that Lukaku can’t score against top opposition, and it has now really been evident that the 24-year-old goes missing in big games.
Ahead of Sunday’s showdown between Manchester United and Chelsea, it will show a lot about the Belgian who’s goalless in his six matches against top-six opposition this term after failing to find the net versus Tottenham (x2), Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Premier League leaders Manchester City.
Lukaku will be up against his former club, whom he made 15 appearances for, from 2011 to 2014.
He failed to score a single goal for the London giants before completing a £28million move to Everton in July 2014.
Did Chelsea dodge a bullet in Lukaku? And is Alvaro Morata a better signing than the Belgian?
