Chelsea showed character, determination and pure tactical ingenuity in tonight’s Champions League clash against Barcelona.
Just one defensive mistake at the back led to a Lionel Messi goal, else Chelsea would have beaten Barcelona at the Bridge 1-0.
See how the players are rated from the game
Courtois: Had one good save against Luis Suarez, but couldn’t do anything to prevent Lionel Messi’s goal after a defensive error. 6/10
Azpilicueta: Solid as a rock on the right side of defence and showed his captain mettle as he marshalled the Chelsea defence to keep Lionel Messi and Suarez quiet. 7/10
Christensen: Was having a good game till his mistake which led to Barcelona’s equaliser. 6/10
Rudiger: Solid as a rock on the left side of defence and dealt with the threat that came his way with minimum fuss. 7/10
Kante: Indeed he kept Messi quiet and we saw the best of the Frenchman in his tackles, closing down, pressing and even helping the team on the counter. 8/10
Fabregas: Had a good game as he sat deep in midfield to release passes to Chelsea’s front three. 7/10
Moses: Disciplined performance from the right wing-back, and while he didn’t do much going forward, he helped the team in defence. 6.5/10
Alonso: Solid performance from the Spaniard both going forward and defending. He made sure Chelsea were solid down the right. 7/10
Pedro: Worked his socks off and was dangerous on the counter. 7/10
Willian: Definitely the best player on the pitch tonight and got the only goal of the game. Struck the bar twice and was too hot to handle for Barcelona’s defence. 8.5/10
Hazard: Was dangerous on the ball and showed why he’s called one of the best players in the game with his dribbling which caused problems for Ernesto Valverde’s men. 7.5/10
