Chelsea signed Olivier Giroud from Arsenal on transfer deadline, and there have been fears that the powerful striker can go on to have a good career at Chelsea due to his style of play.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that he sold the Frenchman to his rivals because of Giroud’s commitment while as a Gunner and for family reasons.
He said: “First of all I think ideally you want him to go to a club who you do not compete with you.
“But on the other it was linked with the Aubameyang deal. And he wanted to stay in London, he had a third baby recently and it was difficult on the family side to leave London.
“There was all this and the fact we owe Giroud a lot. His commitment his dedication and love for the club was exceptional. ‘It was difficult to turn down even if we sold to an opponent and a club we compete with.”
