Antonio Conte’s job as Chelsea manager is on the brink after Chelsea were defeated 4-1 by Watford.

Chelsea’s stock has dropped since the start of the new year, and the loss to Watford was preceded by a 3-0 home defeat against Bournemouth.

Many expect Roman Abramovich to axe the Italian, but former Chelsea assistant manager Ray Wilkins thinks it will be a mistake to let Conte go.

“It’s almost a two-year stint isn’t it,” Wilkins said on Sky Sports.

“They go in there, they do two years, and unfortunately Mr Abramovich decides that he’s going to sack the guy.

“I think Antonio has done a fantastic job.

“I think it would be a mistake for him to go.”
