Antonio Conte was left fighting for his job after shock defeats to Watford and Bournemouth in recent weeks with rumours claiming that his job was unsafe.
Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri was at the time being reported as Roman Abramovich’s number one choice for the west London hot seat due to his impressive season with Napoli, and Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola was linked with the assistant manager role.
However, Zola admits he has heard nothing about the rumours linking him to any role.
“One week there is and one week there isn’t something linking me with Chelsea,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“But I know nothing about this hypothesis.
“Besides, after Birmingham I’ve taken a year out.”
Sarri has caught the eyes of many as he has led Napoli to the top of Serie A this season and the Italian side have played some impressive attacking football.
