Barcelona have been dealt a fresh injury blow ahead of the Champions League clash with Chelsea on Wednesday next week after announcing that Denis Suarez will miss the game.
The 24-year-old midfielder picked up an adductor muscle strain to his left leg during the Catalan Super Cup game against Espanyol on Wednesday night and is now a doubt for Wednesday’s game as well as Andres Iniesta who suffered a hamstring injury against Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
Suarez has been in and out of the side this season under Ernesto Valverde, but with Iniesta having also suffered a hamstring injury, the 24-year-old was next in line to replace him.
The Blaugrana are now short in midfield ahead of Chelsea’s visit to the Camp Nou and will be hoping Iniesta recovers in time to play the game, or they’ll have to rely on their young midfielder Andre Gomes.
