Chelsea were beaten 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday courtesy of a second-half goal from Bernardo Silva.
The Blues have been criticised for their negative performance and Jamie Carragher went hard on Chelsea’s performance as the 40-year-old says he had never seen a football team walk through a game in his whole life until Chelsea did on Sunday.
“In watching football my whole life, 35-40 years, there’s not a lot you’ve never seen before,” the Liverpool legend said on Sky Sports.
“Whether that’s playing for your school, playing in the Champions League, watching amateur football, whatever level of football it is.
“I saw something yesterday I have never ever seen before in my life on a football pitch.
“That was people walking, the whole team walking when the ball was like five of six yards away from them.
“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. This is at full speed.
“Look at Willian, there’s 20 minutes to go, they’re losing 1-0. They’re losing 1-0.
“I’m looking at that thinking ‘Who was at fault there?’.
“Is that players being lazy, a terrible attitude? Or is it these players going ‘these instructions this manager’s has given us, we’ve got no chance’.”
