Luke Shaw had a poor game for Manchester United in their 2-0 win over Brighton in the FA Cup quarterfinal. Jose Mourinho started the 22-year-old in his regular left-back position, but took him off at half-time and criticised him for his performance.
And after the match, Mourinho said: “To try to improve our offensive football and be more aggressive I had to change one of them [Shaw or Antonio Valencia].
“And I decided Luke, because at least Antonio defensively was capable of good positionings, like in one of their more dangerous movements in the second half when [Brighton striker Jurgen] Locadia made a diagonal run.
“Luke, in the first half, every time they went in this corridor, the cross was coming, the situation was coming so I was not happy with the performance.”
This has led to reports that the former Southampton star will be axed in the summer.
Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal have been linked with the United left-back and Coral have made Chelsea the favourites to snap up the young defender with odds at 4-1.
