Chelsea enter a crucial part of the season as the last two months of this season will go a long way to define Chelsea’s success and failure this campaign.
Chelsea signed Olivier Giroud in the January transfer window to compete with Alvaro Morata who has had injury and lack of form problems to contend with. But the Chelsea manager is yet to decide on his main striker, as he has rotated both strikers and even left them on the bench at this year.
Morata and Giroud have both scored just a goal this year, and Sky Sports pundit Tony Cottee believes Conte needs to decide between Morata and Giroud as his main centre-forward if Chelsea have any hope of breaking into the top four.
“I think he needs to sort of try and settle on what is going to be his first-choice main forward if you like,” Cottee said of Conte.
“That’s got to be Morata or Giroud and then you put [Eden] Hazard in behind him.
“I think that’s what he’s got to do because if he doesn’t do that and you keep tweaking the teams, they’re running out of games.
“If they can beat Spurs then they’ve got West Ham and Southampton; two games that Chelsea would expect to win.
“They would really put the pressure on to get into the top four, so he’s got to get the team formation right for this game.”
