Tiemoue Bakayoko hasn’t played since being sent off in Chelsea’s 4-1 loss at Watford at the start of February due to a calf strain.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte revealed during his press conference on Friday that Bakayoko’s injury came at a good time because it allowed him to evaluate what went wrong against Watford.
“I think if I have to see a positive side to his injury, he has had a lot of time to work on the bad performance against Watford” Conte said.
“He has been training with us for one week. His physical condition is not bad.
“Don’t forget he is 22 years old, he is a young player. We are lacking experience with many players but Baka has the right personality to become an important player for Chelsea.
“I hope in the present but for sure in the future. We are working with him in the same way as the strikers, Christensen, like every player.
“In the squad we have four midfielders. I have to trust, and I must trust, in my players. I have to continue to insist that with these players.”
Bakayoko is expected to be in the squad that will face Crystal Palace on Saturday.
