Chelsea manager Antonio Conte showed no ambition with his tactics in Chelsea’s defeat against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
The Italian lined up Chelsea without a striker and the Blues sat very deep in their own half.
When the Chelsea manager was pressed on why he was negative in the game, Conte admitted that Chelsea would have conceded too many goals against City’s attack if the team didn’t sit deep.
Asked if he was too negative, a frustrated Conte hit back: “Do you think this? I think if we start with a game to have more ambition with more space behind us the game can finish not 1-0.
“It’s not good enough but this is the truth. I don’t think this is for the tactics but the game was this and we tried to do our best.
“I repeat it’s not simple to play against Manchester City. They play with great intensity in every moment of the game. We tried to do this, tried to defend well, but we conceded a goal after 30 seconds of first half.”
