Watching Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday broke my heart and it’s a pity our manager Antonio Conte still thinks playing that way against Manchester City was the right thing to do. Our tactics against Manchester City was a disgrace and it wasn’t a performance that shows Chelsea are the current champions of the Premier League.
Chelsea needed at least a point at the Etihad after Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield but Conte instead opted to drop his two strikers and play so deep against Manchester City. Our tactics against City was suicidal and disgraceful.
Arsenal’s second-half performance against City in their 3-0 loss to City at the Emirates showed City can be rattled if you press high and try to stop them from passing from the back but Chelsea sat so deep and gave City all the time in the world to pass out from the back.
Chelsea had no shot on goal in the first half and it’s been over ten years since Chelsea last played a half of football without a shot on goal. Another disgraceful stat from the game that shows why Conte’s tactics against Manchester City is unacceptable.
Chelsea can’t dominate European football and keep our best players if we continue to play this kind of football we played against Manchester City on Sunday. It’s a disgrace and unacceptable for Chelsea Football Club.
