PSG forward Kylian Mbappe is one of the highly rated youngsters in the game today, and with PSG and Real Madrid pushing for his signature during the summer transfer window with massive fees being reported, only shows his worth.
However, the 19-year-old could easily have been a Chelsea player having featured alongside Tammy Abraham and Jeremie Boga during an Under-12s friendly against Charlton Athletic – in a trial game which ended in a comprehensive victory for Chelsea.
Mbappe, who wore the No.10 shirt during that match, also met with Chelsea’s first-team players at the time, including Didier Drogba and Florent Malouda.
The Paris Saint-Germain forward has admitted he enjoyed his brief stint at Chelsea which also played a key role in his development.
“I was still young back then, maybe 10 or 11,” Mbappe said in an interview with FourFourTwo magazine.
“I went to London and spent just under a week over there.
“I trained at Chelsea and we played a friendly match against Charlton Athletic.
“We won 6-0 or 7-0. I played upfront, but I don’t think I scored.
“It was great – it was my first experience abroad and a chance for me to see what the game was like in England.”
