Roma striker Edin Dzeko was close to joining Chelsea in the January transfer window, but the deal didn’t go through at the final stage.
Both sides had even agreed a fee for the former Manchester City striker, but the deal later collapsed.
Roma’s CEO Umberto Gandini explained that Roma decided they could not lose such an important player.
He told Radio Rai: “It’s a vital player for us, we are happy to have him with us.
“We could have sold him, we evaluated everything out in the end, we decided to continue together.
“He is so important for our style of play, even when he doesn’t score. We are so happy for his performances.”
