Former Chelsea striker Diego Costa endured a turbulent relationship with Antonio Conte during their time together at Stamford Bridge, and the Italian famously ended the 29-year-old’s stint at Stamford Bridge via a text message.
Costa fired Chelsea to the Premier League title in Conte’s debut season, but the pair had a major bust-up during the campaign during which the Italian told the striker to ‘go to China’.
Conte then told the striker in the summer, via a text message, that he was no longer part of his plans at Stamford Bridge, and the Spain international ended up back at Atletico Madrid in January.
Costa was angry with Conte’s handling of the situation, and it appears the striker still holds a grudge against his former boss, judging by what he did at the start of the game against Barcelona.
Costa had an eye on that fixture and did an Instagram post shortly before Chelsea and Barcelona kicked off their second leg on Wednesday evening.
Costa posted a picture of Chelsea’s line-up graphic on his Instagram page, but notably he had scrubbed out Conte’s name from the image.
