Chelsea starlet Ethan Ampadu is expected to miss the rest of the season after suffering a fractured ankle.
The 17-year-old suffered the injury while playing in Chelsea’s 4-2 win over Real Madrid in the UEFA Youth League.
The youngster’s rehabilitation is going well, and the youngster was able to travel out to Nyon earlier this week to support his Under-19 team-mates in the UEFA Youth League final against Barcelona.
Amapdu has revealed he is happy with his progress.
“I’m progressing well, the physios are pleased with how it’s going but it’s about taking each day as it comes and not rushing anything,” Ampadu told the official Chelsea website. “I just want to make sure I come back stronger and fitter.
“It was nice to go out there for the game. They had the semi-final on Friday but I was doing some rehab work so I watched that at Cobham. I was a bit nervous towards the end but thankfully we got through.
“For the final, it was nice to fly out the day before and be part of the team. On the day it wasn’t meant to be but it was a great experience. We had some good results against some tough teams along the way and hopefully when we get the opportunity to play in the competition again we can go one step further and win it.”
