Chelsea FC will hold a memorial service to celebrate the life of Ray Wilkins in London next Tuesday 1 May, the club has confirmed.
The former Chelsea captain and assistant manager passed away on 4 April, with Chelsea fans and the football community worldwide sending in their tributes for the England international.
The service, which is by invite only, will take place at St Luke’s & Christ Church in Chelsea, bringing together Ray’s family, friends and colleagues from more than 40 years as a player, coach and pundit.
The club confirms that the service has to be a ticketed event due to capacity constraints.
The club and Ray’s family invite supporters to attend our Legends match against Inter Forever on 18 May, which has been dedicated to Ray’s memory, with further tributes from those who played alongside and under him at Stamford Bridge to come on the day. A donation will be made by the Chelsea Foundation to Crohn’s & Colitis UK, the charity chosen by Ray’s family, following the game.
The Wilkins family will also hold a private funeral service for the Chelsea legend.
