Alvaro Morata missed three chances in Chelsea’s win against Burnley, including a glorious one on one with the Burnley keeper which he sent the ball wide.

The Spaniard was replaced by Eden Hazard with 20 minutes remaining and the striker was goaded by Burnley fans as he made his way off the pitch, with fans happy to remind him of his miss.

He reacted angrily as he reached the dug-out, engaging with some Burnley fans before taking off his boots and shin pads and slamming them on the ground.

Antonio Conte was asked after the game whether club-record signing Morata was taken off because of the miss, Conte said: “No, honestly.

“Around 70 minutes, I thought that it was better to put fresh strength with Hazard. He is a player that has different characteristics to Morata.

“I am pleased for their performances, they played very well.”
