Chelsea had planned to spend four seasons playing at Wembley while building work takes place to erect a new 62,000-seater stadium, but they have been rocked by Shahid Khan’s £1billion offer to buy the national stadium.
Chelsea will not start rebuilding Stamford Bridge before 2020 but with an uncertainty surrounding the Wembley stadium, Chelsea could now share the London Stadium with rivals, West Ham.
While West Ham might not be happy with letting Chelsea groundshare, a statement from the stadium’s owners E20 Stadium LLP left the door open.
“We can confirm that another football club could play at the stadium,” it read.
Chelsea have very limited options for a huge facilty in London that could house its fans while Stamford Bridge undergo reconstruction.
