Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne are in amazing form in the Premier League this season, and the duo have been listed as the top two candidates to win the PFA Player of the Year.
Salah and De Bruyne were Chelsea players who failed to make it into the squad and were sold for low fees but can command ridiculous fees in today’s transfer market.
However, BT Sport pundit James Horncastle believes Chelsea won’t make the same mistake they did with De Bruyne and Salah when it comes to Michy Batshuayi.
Batshuayi has struggled under Antonio Conte before being shipped out on loan to Borussia Dortmund. The Belgian who was almost sold by the club, is now banging in the goals in Germany, and has already scored eight goals in thirteen games.
“It’s one of the best January signings in Bundesliga history,” Horncastle said on BT Sport.
“Bundesliga clubs don’t tend to do any business in January because they think it’s inefficient. They had to because Aubameyang left but what an impact the Belgian international has made, really proving Chelsea wrong.
“Although Chelsea will not make the same mistake they made with Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah. Both of those players when they left Chelsea they ended up leaving on permanent deals.
“There is no option for Dortmund to buy the player and with performances like these he’s pricing himself out.”
