Chelsea skipper Gary Cahill had lost his place in the Chelsea team for the past two months, with Antonio Conte preferring a back three including Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Christensen had started seven straight games prior to last weekend’s 1-1 draw with West Ham, and Chelsea boss Antonio Conte spoke about the Chelsea skipper and the academy product in his press conference.

He said: “We are talking about a young player. For him it is the first season playing at this level. Playing at this level means you lose a lot of mental energy. It could be that he is a bit tired in this respect.

“At the same time, to have the possibility to play Gary Cahill is right. We are talking about an important player not only for Chelsea, but also for the national team. I have this opportunity to make rotations, especially in the defensive line. When I see some situations, I try to change something.

“For sure Christensen can contribute in the last few weeks of the season. I have four central defenders at the moment. From now until the end I will make rotations and give everyone the possibility to play.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
